Childcare Provider

The Childcare professional is responsible for providing a safe, loving and engaging experience for all children under their care. The responsibilities of the Childcare professional are:

  • Assure the safety of all children in their care.
  • Assures that children’s needs are meet on time.
  • Is committed to the Dogtown Operating System. (Company Values, Standard Work, Improvements, etc.)
  • Produces high quality work and makes improvements in childcare experience.
  • Meeting Company Needs – Helps meet customer demands. (Work when, where and as requested.)
  • Volunteers for, accepts & completes assignments. Are self-motivated and drives change.
  • Gives and accepts feedback professionally. (Nice approach uses tact) Listens well.
  • Has a good, positive attitude. Easy to approach. Develops trust.
  • Handles work problems professionally. (Doesn’t take problems personally)
  • Has good problem-solving skills. Shares knowledge & ideas. Suggests solutions. Doesn’t blame. 
  • Manages time well. Uses interactions productively.
  • Motivates, supports, defends, encourages & removes barriers for an effective childcare experience.
  • Develops good relationships with children, team members and others. Treats people as people. (Respect, communication skills, trust)
  • Practices all company Environmental / Security / Safety requirements.
  • Rarely misses work except if absence is covered and scheduled. Ready to start on time. Returns from breaks/lunch on time.
  • Can be counted on to help the team and company meet their goals.
  • Learning new things. Is on schedule to complete their development/ improvement plan. 

Childcare professional’s skill requirements: 

  • Personal Skills – At least 3 years of Child Care work experience required. Good child behavior knowledge, ability to multi-task, good organizational skills, good analytical skills, good computer skills. The Childcare professional must have the willingness to learn continuously and improve their skills in the following areas: 
  • Team/People skills Interpersonal skills for understanding:group process, meeting skills, how to organize activities and develop curriculum with children, how to resolve conflicts calmly and patiently, and how to give effective feedback. Develop and use the adult learning principles to effectively communicate process improvement and teach the children new skills.
  • Technical skills The understanding of the technical aspects of the specific (or assigned) process(s). Some of the skills may include depending on your assigned area: 
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Keep valid records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that occur that day.
  • Maintain contact with the child’s parents in case of emergency.
  • Behavioral analysis and cognitive recognition abilities for anticipating and addressing potential interactions or issues.
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with children.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians.
